Garifuna are a people of Carib and Arawak origins who were exiled from St. Vincent (Yurumein) in the West Indies to the island of Baliceaux. In search of a better life they moved and settled along the shores of Belize, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala. Garifuna Settlement Day is celebrated in Belize on November 19th.
